Phase One Complete!

Well, we've begun!  Our home is sold and most of our furniture is sold.  Can you believe it ... we've gone from 2 1/2 acres and a 2700 sq. ft. home, an 1100 sq. ft. shop AND a stable - to a 30' Class A motorhome and a 10' x 14' storage locker!  Quite a change for us!

Originally we thought there'd be enough room in the storage locker to be able to get at stuff like clothes etc., but it's so full we think when we're back in Victoria in November we'll have to either sell more stuff or rent another locker!  A lot is due to big tool-like things ... like a power washer ... generator etc.  Amazing on how much room that stuff takes up ... and it's not really 'stack-able' like boxes are.

We also fit a lot into the mo-ho.  Nowhere near organized but I guess we'll have time to do that once we get on the road.

Right now we're staying at Bruce's parents' place and will head out 'on the road' on Sept 4th - after all the long weekend traffic is gone and the kids are in school.

First stop is Bellingham, WA where we pick up bike racks and car roof racks at REI.  Until then the bikes are going to be jammed - one in the car trunk and one in the mo-ho.  Then we carry on to Burlington, WA and hit Camping World.  Woo-hoo!!  That may just fill up any remaining space in the mo-ho!  :)

Then the first night camping at Wenberg County Park outside of Everett, WA.  We'll stay there for 2 nights with a side trip (car only) to Seattle.  Then across to Leavenworth, WA and stay 2 nights at Icicle River Campground.  Then on to Hwy #97 and up to the border to Osoyoos.  We'll stay there at least a week.  Plans are to have Steve & Mary up on the 9th, 10th & 11th and they'll help us celebrate our 17th anniversary at Burrowing Owl Vineyard.  Should be fun.

Then ... who knows ... we'll dig out a map and decide what's next.

Today tho we're having a bbq with the parents ... ribs, baked beans and corn on the cob ... YUM.

That's it for today!  More later!

  1. Congrats on your new life. Have you given your new home a name? I think it perhaps deserves recognition as an entity, it may bring good luck.
